As this is my last newsletter of the 2017-2018 chapter year I thought I’d talk about something that’s been on my mind lately. Fear.
Fear is all around us and ever present in our lives. It can come from inside your heart or from friends projecting their own fears on you.
I find that the older I get my fears have evolved. These days things like changing jobs and making large investments cause me to pause and think twice. I have kids, a wife, retirement goals, and more to think about. But change is inevitable. Change shows up on your door and comes in uninvited. So, we better learn to embrace it.
As we enter the 2018-2019 chapter year I hope we all come into it with a sense of optimism. Your board of directors is welcoming three new members who I know will challenge us all to reach new heights. I challenge you to face your fears head on and see what new things you are able to accomplish.
I’ll leave you with some song lyrics my wife shared with me when I was recently challenged to face some of my fears. I refer to them often for strength and support.
When he told you you're not good enough
When he told you you're not right
When he told you you're not strong enough
To put up a good fight
When he told you you're not worthy
When he told you you're not loved
When he told you you're not beautiful
That you'll never be enough
Fear, he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
'Cause fear he is a liar

New Nashville Venues
The newest restaurants, venues, hotels, and more happening around Music City!
This month we feature Jason Aldean's and Ole Red.
Jason Aldean's -Located on the heart of Broadway in the country music mecca of downtown Nashville, Jason Aldean's main restaurant level will feature a large bar showcasing a 1961 4020 John Deer tractor in a tribute to Jason Aldean’s number one song 'Big Green Tractor.’ World renowned Chef Tomasz Wosiak teamed up with Jason Aldean to create a menu that is a mix of his southern cooking favorites, steaks, pastas, salads and more. After a personal taste test, Jason decided on the perfect drink menu for everyone from local craft beer to signature cocktails. Jason’s mom even added her Homemade Peach Cobbler to the menu and worked alongside our Chef Tomasz to ensure the family recipe was to perfection!
The mezzanine features Jason Aldean's merchandise store packed with officialmemorabilia, T-shirts, hats, jackets and a signature glassware line. There are large screen TV’s, multiple couch settings and a private bar for the ultimate in VIP experience. The venue is the perfect location to host private events for groups up to 1500 guests.
“My Kinda Party” is the largest rooftop patio on Broadway and is dedicated to an all day and night party with live entertainment, dancing and panoramic views of Broadway. The rooftop bar and outside patio will feature “Eat To Your Own Beat" food in a basket concept. Build your own basket and enjoy freshly made cocktails served at the Night Train bar.
Ole Red -Blake first opened an Ole Red restaurant in his hometown of Tishomingo, Okla., and has now added another in his new home in Nashville.
Ole Red Nashville boasts daily and nightly live music, private event space and a rooftop overlooking downtown.
We’re always itchin’ to have a little fun at Ole Red, so come on and sit down with a drink, a meal, some music, and maybe even a Blake Shelton sighting.

President’s Letter: Inspiring Chapter Leaders by Ingrid Nagy, ILEA President
Ah … spring has sprung and I, for one, am excited for summer! I can’t believe it is already the end of May, and soon we will be renewing our memberships. A friendly reminder that your membership renewals are due 30 June, if you haven’t taken care of this already! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to network and be a part of the global ILEA community.
In February, I shared that ILEA was shifting our operational model to welcome all members from Europe, Hong Kong, Middle East, Nigeria, Turkey and the United Kingdom chapters to our community. To continue to build our global presence and relationships with our members in this region of the world, ILEA attended IMEX in Frankfurt last week. We hosted a chapter leader meeting and all-member happy hour meetup to network and get re-acquainted with our live event professionals in the EMEA region. It was a great opportunity for ILEA to elevate our voice, and it is a reminder that building all over the globe is priceless...
